Snapper’s Waterfront Saloon and Bar will be hosting its 10th annual Liars and Cheaters Golf Tournament on April 15th. Held annually on the Thursday closest to tax day, not that anyone would lie or cheat on their taxes, this hugely popular and always fun golf tournament benefits Habitat for Humanity of the Upper Keys.

The tournament starts with check-in and lunch at 11 am at Keys Gate Country club in Homestead Florida. There is a shotgun start at noon with foursomes competing in a best ball scramble. Golfers receive range balls, cart, beverages, awards, eligibility for great contests, goody bag and an awards banquet and Barbecue Buffet back at Snapper’s Turtle Club at 6 pm.

Golfer’s can register for $100 per player before April 4th, after that the entry fee goes up to $120 per golfer. Social entries for $15 dollars are available for non-golfers who want to attend the banquet with their golfing friends or loved ones. Local Businesses or individuals who would like to support Habitat’s effort to provide simple, decent and affordable housing can sponsor individual holes with a sign for $100 or become a tournament sponsor for $500, which includes four golf entrees, hole sponsor ship, and their name on the official event banner and flyers.

Habitat for Humanity of the Upper Keys has built 23 affordable homes in the Upper Keys. Habitat gives their partner families a no interest mortgage, and the families put in 500 hours of sweat equity and a small down payment on their home. Habitat currently has a five-plex in the construction phase in Key Largo, and has plans to start a duplex this year. Habitat recently won a bid from Monroe County and was awarded the property to build 14 more affordable Upper Keys homes in the near future.
